We were beaten in the first round in the state tourney for basketball. Shook hands with the other team and got a little teary eyed in the locker room after I changed out of my jersey for the last time. I kept it together. I got over it quick. Two days later I was the starting center fielder for the baseball team. I think I went 3-4 in my first high school baseball game my senior year without even going to a single practice. We lost in the second round to the state runner up that year by one run. We split in district earlier with the eventual state champs that year. Many of my friends were crying after the game but I kept it together. Coach gave a little speech and told us to put our hands in the middle. He said "one last time for the seniors" and we shouted our mascot's name. When baseball season ended I went straight to track and field and competed. After track it was time to go to college.

Got knocked out by some dick from a school nicknamed the Unicorns in the tennis state singles round of 8 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Was more torn up about losing that match than I was about my high school sports career being over because I had only played tennis for the school for two years and I was on a somewhat miraculous run through the tourney. College I went to didn't offer schollies except for baseball, so I wasn't about to walk on and play tennis with a bunch of goddamn Brazilians (seriously, all Brazilians and one Norwegian kid).
