Has absolutely nothing to do with any loss of humanity. For frick's sake...if we started televising executions I'd bet my left but you'd be on the PliBoard touting their effectiveness.
In short, people are and ALWAYS HAVE BEEN brutal shitheads. The only difference between this story and how it would have happened in 1910 is that instead of the group having to be there in person to act like savages, they were able to do so anonymously.

I can imagine Garth as a guy who is 100% in favor of Capital Punishment, and his cheering on of the state killing a criminal, is somewhat similar to people cheering on a man who probably already made up his mind to die
