I went back and read some pre-draft analysis of Stanley Jean-Baptiste

Cliff Notes version: Nobody was expecting him to be a starter from day 1. They all saw him as a project.
For example:

For example:
quote:
Weaknesses Has relatively small hands. Not especially strong for his size. Stiff hips. Is not a quick-twitch athlete and struggles to mirror sudden receivers. Lacks elite top-end speed (long-strider). Green positional instincts. Picks and chooses his spots to be physical -- inconsistent run defender. Has tweener traits. Football aptitude is lacking -- could struggle to grasp and execute complex assignments. Will be a 24-year-old rookie.

They could have just shortened it to:
Weaknesses Is not currently good at football
These things get kind of crazy if you really read them.

When you read the weaknesses by themselves, they make it seem like this player has no place in football at any level.

predraft snippets are always dumb.
PRO's:
Good tackler
Plays Tough
Con's:
Lacks physicality
Takes wrong angles at times
So basically coulda written "I do not want to be wrong"

They left out "can't be any worse as a rookie than veteran Patrick Robinson" in that analysis.

Wasn't expecting much out of him, considering Loomis cant draft defense to save his life
