Since Bill Arnsparger became coach at LSU, we have lost to Moo State on 4 occasions - 2 times in Starkville, 1 time in Jackson (1990) and 1 time in Baton Rouge.

Out of our 6 head coaches from Arnsparger through Miles - the first four all dropped a single game to MSU - Arnsparger and Hallman in their first years - Archer and Dinardo in their last.

But, the closest they've come since is Saban's 1st year, a nailbiter that went into OT in Baton Rouge. It was one of the best football games I'd ever seen. They outrushed us by 19 yards, we outpassed them by 31. We lost the TO battle, but won the TOP battle. We were down 14 points going into the 4th quarter, scored 3 touchdowns, then let them tie it.

A heavy dose of Booty to Reed, as well as Lebrandon Toefield running was required that day (and that was WR Reggie Robinson's best game at LSU, 10 catches, 102 yards).

Since then - it's been close at times, but we've beaten MSU like a drum since Stovall was coach (and dropped 4 straight to them). We haven't trailed in the head-to-head series since 1926.

Since Miles became coach, we've scored 338 points against, and given up 130 points - over 9 games, that makes an average result 37 1/2 to 14 1/2.

Having said all of that - history means nothing. MSU is playing with a lot of confidence, they have as much talent as they've had in a while and are well coached.

If we start slowly (which I expect - young QB starting his first SEC game) this could be a dog fight (sorry for the pun) until the very end.

LSU wins because:

1.) Home

2.) Team speed on defense

3.) Running game

4.) Improved execution of short/middle passing game

5.) Improved pass protection

6.) Too much talent and depth of that talent, for MSU to handle

To this day, Tulane has more SEC championships than does Mississippi State.

I truly believe that this alone could take the O to another level. Fournette out in space? Yeah Baby!
