I believe we will win for the previously stated reasons PLUS Prescott is going to be tracked down by our fast defense when he runs

but I tell ya, there hasn'tt been many times in the rivalry's history where Miss St. comes in with undoubtedly the more talented defensive line either

that does concern me. up until last year we went like ten years having one of the best interior defenses in the league; that's where I like to be good. IMO getting run up the middle on your squad is the getting bitched of football. could someone counsel me here on this concern. (without just spouting out that our DL is better- cause we may have more depth and may be quicker but that is it)

I think our ability to contain Prescott is going to be the key to us winning. You've got to give the guy credit, he is a legitimate threat on offense and in my opinion he is the best offensive threat they have. The only thing that worries me is the fact that they haven't beat us since 1999 in Stark-patch and the law of averages will have to catch up at some point!

Jameon Lewis is their leading receiver with 10 receptions for 107 yards in the first three games, but its not really the passing game that worries me, its Prescott's ability to run the ball. He is the second leading rusher on the team with 273 yards on 40 carries. We just need to keep him contained, especially on the read-option.

i think you're going to see our d line just holding their ground instead of trying to get to their qb, just like we did versus jff. that way they don't over commit and gives them more time to react to the handoff exchange.

Good point, rouge. When the linemen get out of their lanes and allow breakdowns in containment is when you have problems with a QB like Prescott. Your right, the Chief was able to contain JFF both times we faced him, so maybe he can keep the trend going.

To this day, Tulane has more SEC championships than does Mississippi State.

LSU will win because...

1) It's Saturday Night in Death Valley. LSU doesn't lose at night in DV.
2) LSU WR's matchup up well with our DBs

MSU will win becuase...

1) Dak will carry the reins of the offense and have success on the ground which will open up the passing game.
2) Our impact players are from Louisiana and want to make a statement
3) We are due

ETA: I will never predict our team to win in DV until it actually happens. That being said, LSU is gonna have to beat us by throwing the ball (which is likely). I just don't see LSU dominating the run game like previous games.

Tell that to USCw.
I was surprised we are/were a double digit favorite.
Might be just to move the money to State.

The issue with Prescott is that, unlike JF, he can take a hit and shake tackles without making moves or needing space to do it. He is a big, strong guy. That said, he doesn't have enough around him for a win in Tiger Stadium unless our D gets cocky and doesn't show up. I don't see that happening, though.

While Dan Mullen has improved the talent base at MSU and has been to a few bowl games, a lot of people are giving him WAY too much credit. He will do something stupid that will cost his team during the course of this game. Book it. Just because this is his best team at State doesn't mean he's a good SEC coach. When you adjust for the different time and landscape of the SEC in the late 90's to early 2000's, I don't think this State team could hold a candle to Jackie Sherrill's two best squads.

IMO, LSU O-Line v Moo State D-Line is the KEY.
"Stud linebacker Bernardrick McKinney is NFL-caliber no doubt, but he won't be the only one on the Bulldogs' defense that suits up on Sundays. Sophomore defensive tackle Chris Jones is another stud, along with senior defensive end Preston Smith. Junior Taveze Calhoun might be one of the league's most underrated corners. I also expect Justin Cox's move to safety to be beneficial as a senior. State has two full defensive units it feels comfortable with having on the field in any situation" - By Jim Kleinpeter, NOLA.com

LSU Win Will Because:

- We are more talented;
- Our defense is built to stop and contain offenses just like MSU;
- Our offense is no worse than the Jordan Jefferson years and we beat State then;
- We are at home, in a new Tiger Stadium, at night and it is the SEC opener;
- Our kicking game is better;
- FINALLY - we cannot loss this game for if we do, we are realistically looking down the barrel of a 6-6 season.

Reason MSU Will Win:
- Dak Prescott will be the best offensive player in the stadium;
- They have a better front 7 than LSU and outmatch our underwhelming O-line;
- They are due to beat LSU at some point; and
- they have more veterans at critical positions than LSU.

I'm glad you are so confident.
MSU is better than than you think.
Yes, I think we win, but it's the games that "we should" win that always worry me.
Kentucky (27 game losing streak to UF) is not Florida (25+ point favorite), but gave them all they could handle in the swamp. Just sayin'.

Same state team that hasn't beaten us in 14 years?

Same state team that has to come to TS?

Same state team that just gave up 3 70+ yd Td passes and over 500 total yds to UAB?

Same Dan Mullen coached state team that we took to the woodshed last year?

Yeah it's a wonder why so many people are confident...

1) Same state team that hasn't beaten us in 14 years? – Not the same team.
2) Same state team that has to come to TS? – Not the same team.
3) Same state team that just gave up 3 70+ yd Td passes and over 500 total yds to UAB? – Okay, I'll give you that one.
4) Same Dan Mullen coached state team that we took to the woodshed last year? – 31-26 going to the 4th and gave up 468 yds of Offense, and yet, Not the same team.

LSU will win because they have better talent and home field advantage

MSU could win b/c they will have an effective gameplan to begin the game(like Wisconsin). They will be winning at half. LSU has lucked out many times in recent history. They are due. Also Mullin is a good corch. They are better than we think.

Agree with this^^ Talk about get some attention . . . beatdowns with goose eggs. Can't wait for this weekend. The atmosphere will be electric and the naysayers will be silenced.

Oh yeah, back to the question. LSU will win because we have winning coaches leading beastmode players. Good enough for you?
