i have taught shotokan and judo for almost 20 years to mostly kids still in school. I always teach them that if they can walk away from a confrontation do it...if not, and you have no choice, make em pay as best you can.
Sure, there is a no tolerance policy, not that its smart, but its there. So I've told my students to do all they can to not get into a fight, but at the same time, do not stand there and take a shot. they are to actively defend themselves.
Ive lived next door to a public school principle for 15 years and this topic has seen many of bourbon between us. Just cause its a rule, does not mean its a smart rule he told me. Smart man.
