Mark Emmert believed, correctly, that schools with winning programs were able to appeal to a wider base of students. I know several of my son's friends, all smart academic kids, were considering Bama only because of the national attention the football program receives.

My freshman year was 2003 when we won the NC

the following year, LSU had a record number of freshmen enrolling

they certainly seem to be related

I understand that, and nothing wrong with talking about it, but hopefully they went on from there to other things. If they did, the OP didn't mention it.

Yep, I'm an army brat so i'm not from Louisiana originally but graduated HS here. I thought I was going out of state for college but LSU being on TV, the fan base and my love of football opened my eyes to LSU. I went to visit the campus my senior year and never looked back.

They were considering Bama because of all the blow on that campus.

I did a paper last year on this type of phenomenon. A Harvard professor researched the true theory. When a team has athletic success, application numbers go up, and the quality of student that applies goes up as well.
