Are you feeling okay? I think that's the first time I've seen you post and not refer to yourself in the third person.

Last year's assignment:

Equally ridiculous assertions.
Was my point, and I don't live in Jersey, think way South, and know no teachers who teach like this representation.

I don't know if I should be flattered that you read my posts on the OT or insulted that you've never noticed that I've never posted in 3rd person on the Poliboard.
My political opinions are that worthless?

I thought Hitler used an attack on German soil as a justification to go to war against people who had nothing to do with said attack. Is that not true?
Well, no. He made up an attack - Operation Canned Goods - that he then used as justification to attack Poland.
A better (although not exact) comparison would be LBJ and the Vietnam War - the facts of the Gulf of Tonkin incident remain hotly disputed and, even if it was an attack, could probably have been resolved diplomatically - and there was no loss of life on the U.S. side of the inicident.
Bush, on the other hand, was relying on an actual terrorist attack in taking action in Afghanistan. The fact that Americans inferred that Saddam Hussein was responsible for 9/11 is not the fault of the Bush Administration, although I agree they were not emphatic enough in separating the 2 operations.
Hussein was a UN Resolution defier, funded terrorists, invaded neighbors on multiple occasions - I was fine with him getting got. The "how" is always the problem.

Honestly? I never pay attention to which board I'm on I've always just thought of you as Scruffy: The guy who refers to himself as Scruffy.

I want to say no, wasn't his excuse that the Polish were oppressing Germans IN Poland?

He's clearly on mobile and can't see Scruffy's sig quote.

A better exercise that would bring in current events would be for the students to compare and contrast the historical actions of Hitler with the recent actions of Putin.

Not a surprise, considering the source.
The more that Bush is demonized and vilified in the Zeitgeist of today's USA, the easier it is to blame Bush for all time to come.
The easier it is to Blame Bush, the easier it is to prop up your own Democrat POTUS because you can explain away ALL of his deficiencies by Blaming Bush.
It is VERY important to the Left to keep Demon Evil Bad Bush prominent in our Zeitgeist now and, if possible, forever. This political weapon the Left will wield with fervor. They will never willingly surrender this weapon.

You think this is the only example of this?
there are teachers that break the law, such as sleeping with underage students
but I also think that it's a matter of social media, 24 hour news cycle, etc and not an epidemic or a sign that our country is failing
so I don't overreact like a baby when stories like this come out

This is so asinine that no, she should not be in a position to teach anyone anything. I can't even fathom the thought process of this person that likened W to Hitler. It's so beyond retarded that I wouldn't trust this woman to influence anyone else for fear that they'll become as stupid as her.

Do you think the students were encouraged to challenge the teacher's definitive statement that Bush abused his power?
but on one hand I'm kind of impressed at the critical thinking that an exercise like this would cause 6th graders to employ. We never had these kinds of free form and conversation-inducing exercises until I was in college or grad school. Just wish the example was not retarded.

These 'apologies' mean nothing. If someone hadn't made this public they would have kept on going as if all was ok and this was kosher. Of course, if anything similar had been done including BO's name, there would have been lawsuits, DOJ investigations, you name it. DC public schools are worthless!
