I know that's patently unfair and simplistic, but so is your blaming of Obama in this hypothetical situation.

The President doesn't directly (or indirectly for all I know) run the CIA or empower local NYPD or Chicago PD to snuff out threats. There's TONS of gray area in this scenario and the instinct to blame Obama (or Bush for that matter) is offensive and wrong.

I was actually a Republican under 9/11 and I was impressed how the country came together. I'm scared that the same wouldn't happen again as we've become so much more politicized.
