I used to be hesitant to get into debates with the soccer haters, but discussing the issue with others here who have invariably faced the same thing for YEARS has given me plenty of ammo to push back, as you say. Not trying to be an OT-style badass, but I've stopped giving a shite about offending people and will call them out on their immature, anti-soccer bullshite. Also, any time the "if Lebron played soccer we would win every world cup" argument comes up, I destroy it in about 5 seconds. It's funny to see the lights come on mid conversation in someone who never realized that Adrian Peterson playing soccer in the US setup of the past 10 years = Eddie Johnson.

My favorite in all of this is that after you issue a rebuttal to some of these haters or people who want to change the game to satisfy what they want, they get mad and claim that soccer haters are "eurosnobs" or that we "get mad at everyone who tries to get into it". I say that if someone is ignorant enough to be a dick about something they don't know anything about, they deserve what they get. The funniest part about when people try to use the "imagine if... played soccer" argument is me bringing up watching Ochocinco play with with Sporting KC. He's a physical freak, extremely agile, loves the sport, played it a bit growing up, and he looked absolutely pedestrian on the field with professionals.

As for the Gold Cup, it's amazing the talent that we send now as our "B squad" or "C squad" compared to what we sent (almost) 10 years ago. We have so much young talent now it's insane. Hell, the fact that we held on to that win against the Czech Republic, a team that has historically crushed us, shows how talented our younger, inexperienced players are.
