I would just dump the fuel out and try new gas along with a plug and possible light sanding of the points. Those carbs were pretty simple and almost bullet proof. Usually in my ancient experiance if it is a carb problem just pull it off and spray with carb cleaner, check float is free, dump the bowl and re-install.

Tried the above already in combination with running a tank of fuel spiked with Sea Foam through it. Improved a little but not much.

I unplugged the spark plug wire last night to check the condition of the plug and the gap and noticed that the clown that rebuilt the bike for me last year put a screw inside the plug cap to make the connection instead of changing it out.....
