I'm one who believes in staying the whole game, win or lose. Seems to me, that's the best return on your hard earned investment, as a supporting fan. Just an opinion from an old timer.

They've never actually had 90,000 people in attendance.

Id say this is false. Maybe never averaged that but we've had more for at least a few games.

Not really. If you can only fnd 76K people to come to home openers with the capacity being 92K, why would more come just because the capacity was higher?

More season tickets available so more people on the wait list receiving them. Single tickets around campus extremely cheap, got good seats at $10 a ticket, that's why I went. Who can't afford that?

Unless you send me a link of a actual attendence number (such as baseball does both paid and actual) im going to say there were over 90,000 for Georgia, Florida, and Bama games. 07 Florida would be most imo. There was an extra person on every row

LSU has never had more than 90,000 butts in the seats in Tiger Stadium history, IIRC.

Actual attendance is documented bro

they have those little counters for a reason

"The two largest actual crowds occurred at games in 2007 - Florida (89,800) and Virginia Tech (89,200). LSU Assistant Athletic Director/Ticket Manager Brian Broussard indicated that the scanners miss no more than 1,000 tickets at any one game." -Rivals article.

So the scanners miss up to 1000 tickets. Only 200 short. Ima go out on a limb and say there were 90,000

Is thread insinuating that numbers posted on LSU's athletic web-site for record attendance is false?

The bama game 2 years ago was off the charts

I was there and it was estimated that 200k fans were on campus for that event. If capacity is 92800, it was 100% and then some.

The fact that we had to walk 1.5 miles to the stadium after sitting in our car for 2 hours going nowhere well, I believe the estimates. and this was 7 hours prior to kick off..we were late to the party

Think UF in '07 at 89k was the largest actual attendance.

I was in East Upper and I would guess it was at least 75% full. West looked about the same. Post game show stated around 100,000 people attended, but what do they know.
tickets sold does not equal people actually there.

Freaking THIS.

Let's try to break this down for the simpletons...

1) Hultberg didn't just pull the number "76,000" out of his arse. No doubt he got that number from someone official at LSU. WHY would LSU give him a low number on purpose? That would make no sense.

2) So where did that number come from? Again, someone inside the Athletic Department. LSU DOES keep actual attendance, they just do not publish it. However, if someone asks for the numbers, LSU will provide them. Bryan Lazare has done stories in the past about actual attendance at football games and that story has been linked in this thread. Again, why would LSU intentionally underestimate that number? The ticket office has said that there may be an error of plus or minus 1000 with their scanners...but that is all.

3) For the "well, the lower bowl LOOKED full" crowd....yes it might have LOOKED full, but it wasn't. A poster early in the thread explained it perfectly well, and it is not a difficult concept. When people in the bleacher seats don't show up, the other people in the row spread out a little, giving the APPEARANCE that the row is full, when in actuality it is NOT. Simple math is at work here. If a row seats 20 people, 4 people could be missing and you could never tell the difference from afar because those who ARE there spread out. 16 out of 20 people present in a row is 80% attendance...and the stadium was about 78% full...so the numbers fit. So just because the stadium LOOKS full doesn't mean that it is. We run into this same issue during baseball season. The stadium looks fuller than it is because people in the bleachers spread out. Very simple concept.

TL, DR version: The people who argue that the 76,000 attendance number is wrong are dumbasses.

its a shame we have to go to such great lengths and "spell it out" for the masses of idiots that frequent the rant

Our "fans" support is really turning into a disgrace. It's laughable to think otherwise. How anyone can call themselves a fan but can't handle watching approximately 21 hours of football a year is beyond me. I feel for the players that all these "fans" think should give their all for 4 quarters yet they can't handle sitting in the stadium for more than a half.

Man you must cry yourself to sleep at night then when you think of the poor tennis, womens sports, swim, and golf teams. They bust their arse without even their family in the stands
