You know two years ago it pissed him off that he took a paycut with intent to help resign Welker, then Bill lets him go.
Then this year he trades away his best OL.
To be fair, both of those things sort of worked out -- Welker just had his third concussion in a year and got popped for PEDs and Mankins was making too much for a guard and got hurt in Week 1.
I think the Belichick's drafting ability is horrendously overrated, but they've done a good job of retooling and rebuilding through the draft by cutting ties with veterans at the right time. Guys like McGinest, Seymour, Welker and Moss come to mind immediately. It's better to have depth at many positions than have a few stars and be shallow.

Yes I agree in hindsight they certainly have appeared to be the right moves but at the time you know Brady was thinking WTF

It is.
Go back and look at draft rankings with grades given years later since 2000.
He's a genius because he snatched Brady in the 7th. But wouldn't a genius actually draft him higher instead of some flyer before the draft closes?
BB has had tons of players turn out to be busts.
But he's good at dumping players who are about to expire and cost too much or getting players in the free market for cheap and reviving their careers.
Exact model Al Davis used in the 70's and 80's.
