How about this approach often used in negotiated settlement agremeents:

"so help me God, if any."

The Air Force used to allow airmen to omit the phrase “so help me God” if they so chose. But an Oct. 30, 2013, update to Air Force Instruction 36-2606, which spells out the active-duty oath of enlistment, dropped that option. Since that quiet update to the AFI, airmen have been required to swear an oath to a deity when they enlist or reenlist.

I feel that serving is an honor, not a privilege. As such, the Air Force has the right to put whatever restrictions it feels is necessary. If this person doesn't want to follow, then he can leave. If he is causing issues in the service while he is still enlisted, then yes, they should throw his arse out.

Everyone wants to be an individual and have someone else accommodated their needs. bullshite. Sometimes you need to be part of the team.

So some jackasses within the air force get to impose their religious beliefs on others?

And some jack arse is trying to impose his lack of religious beliefs on the Air Force.

the video clearly makes them credible witnesses who were at the scene of the crime.

No, it doesn't. It has to obey the Constitution.

The constitution says otherwise.

so you think him not saying a couple of words in the oath somehow prevents him from being part of the team, able to perform his duties with distinction and honor, got it.

In the real world, could all present USAF officers please raise your hands if you'd love to have this douche in your command? If you'll bitch about something so mundane, I'm sure he'd be a joy on a FOD walk.

If you were asked to swear by Allah I doubt you'd consider that mundane.

If Allah is God, then I'm OK with it. I'm a Christian and I believe in a God. It's not that hard to rationalize a few words.

What you miss is having to confront a person who bitches about every single detail when you're trying to manage an org. It's no different than having to deal with someone who bitches about not being able to wear a crucifix necklace when it's not policy. I'd just rather not have to listen to their bullshite, and would appreciate someone who keeps their personal opinions to themselves and does the job.

And if you owned a private business I'd be fine with this. The Airforce is a government run, tax funded organization. The fact that this is an issue in 2014 is laughable. We should have evolved as a society to have been rid of foolishness like this by now.
