What are some other cool, interesting ideas around Baton Rouge... Old state Capitol? Civil War stuff? Any ideas?
The Port Hudson battlefield is interesting, if a little bland.
Around the new and old State Capitol buildings is a bunch of historical stuff. The Old Arsenal Museum is right near the capitol. Heck, you could spend almost a day at LSU if you hit the memorial tower, the old Law School building, PMAC, Tiger Stadium, etc.
There is more to do than you'll have time for.

I think this is closed on Sundays but could easily get up there Saturday if they don't explore the entire 6 mile trail. It's only about 20 min north of downtown. Lot of people don't realize how much area the Port Hudson Siege and battle encompassed. They fought from Jackson, La to the freakin MS River.
