Taking the SO down to the moo state game and making a long weekend of it. She's never been to Louisiana and is a huge history buff. Outside of GameDay, was planning on touring a couple plantation homes around St Francisville. What are some other cool, interesting ideas around Baton Rouge... Old state Capitol? Civil War stuff? Any ideas?

If you are going to make a long weekend of it and were thinking of St. Fran, just get up early Sunday and take her all the way to Natchez. Beautiful antebellum homes and plantations. it's 1.5 hours north of BR.

See about staying at Dunleith

In BR:
The La State Museum is great for history. and visit the Arsenal and Capitol itself. All that can be done in under 3 hours. Could do that on gameday before the game and I'm pretty sure it's all free.

Capitol Park Musuem is great for people making their first trip to Louisiana. It highlights all regions of the state. The first floor is dedicated to Louisiana history and various industries of the state. The upper floor takes you on a tour around the different regions and showcases Mardi Gras and jazz. It now costs $6 per adults but open 9-5 Tuesday through Saturday. It rakes roughly an hour or two to visit depending on how much you read per artifact.
