Touchpad mouse pointer frozen

the mouse pointer on my laptop is frozen. I restarted my computer and it worked for a minute or 2 then froze again. luckily my laptop is a touchscreen so I am still able to navigate but it's much more difficult than using the touchpad. anyone got any ideas of what could be the issue or how to fix it? thanks

Some laptops have a switch or button that turns the trackpad on and off.
