The thing is the NFL just mandated that a first offense is 6 games. Then a video comes out and the 6 games is now indefinitely. I think rice should be banned forever after seeing that but why make a rule and not follow it? If he just punched her and knocked her out then what? If he shoved her and she got knocked out then what?

The NFL can do anything they fricking want in relation to discipline for conduct detrimental.

Double jeopardy is a concept that applies in criminal proceedings in this country, not with your employer.
