The truth is that if LF exploded as the season went on and won the Heisman, the media would change their angle and talk about how from his first home game, he called it out and they would be busy rebuilding the legend they tried to create before his first college snap. It's the nature of the media.

He did it, it was silly considering the opponent and how early in the season it is, but it's basically an insignificant moment in the grand scheme of things. He opened himself up to criticism by doing that, but it wasn't anything that caused any major harm to anyone (other than harming his reputation for being humble). He'll have plenty of chances to regain that reputation.
