Heisman posing, excessive celebrating, taunting your opponent during a game, calling-out your opponent before a game, etc. are components of the culture of college football that are never going away. Once upon a time, the consensus would've been that these are examples of poor sportsmanship. Such is no longer the case.

Heisman posing - see Desmond Howard (1991). Of course he backed it up, but that's beside the point.

Excessive celebration - started with the Pros in the early 1970s (see Billy White Shoes Johnson) and filtered into the college ranks in the late 1970s. Been there ever since.

Taunting your opponent during a game - see Knute Rockne. I played in the interior line in the 1970s. The things said before and after every play would get you banned from this site and all of that trash talk didn't start with my era.

Calling out your opponent before a game - bulletin board material has been around since the inception of football.

What about the Aflac trivia question during the LSU vs. SH game. What school came and let Mike the Tiger out of his cage. The answer - 1981 when the LSU Police got a call that Mike was seen wandering on North Stadium drive.

that's no shite, I can't believe the things said and done during my HS football games, I was a safety and our d-linemen would spit tobacco on the center's and other linemen's hands trying to get them to move, the n word was the most used word on the field, taunting went unchecked as long as it was verbal with no gesticulating or exaggerated body motions

I think the question was about a different incident, a time when some Tulane folks actually took Mike. Yeah, people were straight up crazy back then. Who the hell steals a live bengal tiger?
