I hear this, but its a two minute drill and they're worried about scoring a TD not playing "defense".

I find the "scored too fast" argument pretty ridiculous in general. You're team is down, you have to score. You take points any way you can get them.

It's the excuse you put on the offense ... because it's easier to say than "dammit, our defense sucks shite, so we know we can't count on them ... so, not only do you need to score ... but, be sure to score on the last play of the game, or else we're screwed....because evidently it is simply unthinkable to kick-off for a touchback and then count on the D to stop someone from getting 40 yards in less than 1 minute."

Agreed. On offense you have to score. We can't blame the offense because the defense failed to make a stop when they needed to.
