I don't think much will change. Don Cathy is cut from the same mold.

As a friend of a CFA chain owner, I hear nothing but great things about the management.

I bet that crazy church doesn't protest at the funeral

Why not? I mean there are only about 30 of them so probably have bigger fish to fry. But no principled reason not to. Also WBC isn't really a church.

Used to camp on his land sometimes as a kid. We knew Dan but I never really knew Truett.

One morning, I was probably 11-12, we were fishing in one of his ponds and he rolls up in his truck and comes and fishes and talks with us a while. Salt of the earth.

Also, FWIW, Truett kept going to church in Clayton County, GA, one of the most ghetto counties in America, until his death. Did a ton for the community, major donor to Berry College, where tons of kids have gone to school for little or nothing. Obviously sent kids to other colleges as well, many of the minority students. CFA is HQd in a not so great area, but that's where it started so that's where they kept it. Obviously none of this will be mentioned by the press when it's insinuated that CFA is bigoted, but whatever.

Also, FWIW, Dan Cathy is probably more intense on the social aspects than Truett was. So I really doubt there will be any changes along those lines.

RIP Spicy Chicken Biscuit

I think the first product tried by lot of the crowds that the failed "boycott" brought in was the spicy chicken biscuit. It was popular.

I've had the spicy sandwich for lunch. It's also very good but I'm still Sitting Shiva over the loss of the breakfast sandwich.

He was the keynote speaker at my brothers college graduation many years ago. He pointed out the irony in the fact that he had no college education himself. He'll be remembered for his evangelical views but dont lose sight of the fact he gave a lot of money help the underpriveleged, homeless and others.

It's so dumb. And my body totally messes with me by craving Chic Fil A's on Sundays.

RIP Mr. Cathy. A true American entrepreneur and genuine person. He had values, which is something most people today don't have.

It only took a couple of years after Sam Walton died before all Wal-Marts were open on Sunday. It won't be right away, but sooner or later Chik-fil-a will do the same thing.

And also a degradation in quality.

One of the best jobs in America is to own a CFA franchise.
