They couldn't help Weaver, they were stuck.
Why Weaver didn't try and bite through the line himself is beyond me.
Yeah, I didn't get why Tom didn't tell her to stop and tell the Volm to blow up the power plant.

That's another thing... was it the fog that made them stuck or the ooze running along the ground? Until that scene it looked more like it was the ooze than the fog. Hell, Dingaan got dragged down under the fog but was still able to move his head around. That whole part was shittily done.
