John Prine: You've Never Even Called Me By My Name
David Allen Coe, "A friend of mine name Steve Goodman wrote this song." That is a friend of his and John Prine wrote that song.

John. Motherfricking. Prine.
The best songwriter alive.
The water tastes funny when you're far from your home, but it's only the thirsty that hunger to roam.
While out sailing on the ocean, while out sailing on the sea
I bumped in to the savior
He said Pardon Me!
I said Jesus, you look tired
He said Jesus, so do you

One of the best. See him live if you ever get the chance.

Him or Dylan. And I'd much rather see Prine.

Yes. I've seen both Dylan and Prine live quite a few times. There's no contest that Prine puts on a better show, imo. Plus, you can actually see Prine in more intimate venues with decent sound quality.

Saw him once....with Levon Helm at Red Rocks...tough to beat that. One hell of a show

Saw him with Iris Dement at HOB New Orleans. His voice wasn't the greatest but it was an excellent concert.

Prine and Jason Isbell at the Fox in October

I've seen him with Iris as well. Great show. A different time, I saw Darrell Scott come out and encore with Prine on Paradise, which was pretty cool.

I really like in spite of ourselves. Dad turned me on to Prine when I was young. Music just doesn't sound the same. If I ever met Prine I would say hello in there John.

You say that, but I certainly cannot name a better one.
