Same exact thing happened to a kid in high school. He was a catcher and couldn't throw it back to the pitcher out of nowhere. He'd throw it way over his head, way off to the side, into the ground, etc. Everywhere but back to the pitcher.

He cured it by throwing from the pitchers mound to somebody behind the plate.

All of a sudden, he could throw from the catcher's spot again.

Weird.
