Can any people tell me more about the area? My brother and his family just signed a lease in an apartment in Covintgton. Wife's job needed her to more to Louisiana. They have a 2 1/2 year old daughter as well and would be in need of child care as well. I don't really know much about this part of Louisiana and my brother and wife know even less.

Does your current wife know about the secret family you are hiding in Covington?

Covington GA is terrible so I'm guessing a town by the same name in Louisiana would be 2x to 3x worse.

Cov is one of the more middle America, mom and apple pie areas on the northshore. Not as snobby as Mandeville but people can be a little more rough around the edges. The downtown area is just wonderful. A kind of bohemian feel to it as well.

It used to be nice, quaint and lakeside. Now it's little Kenner.

I think downtown Covington has more to offer than the average Southern suburb.

By La standards, Covington is a pretty good place. Not as much trash and rednecks as compared to most of the state.
There are some good restaurants and such in the area and it is an easy drive to N.O.

The old downtown area is pretty neat.

The negative of the area is the traffic of course.

It may or may not be better than Covington, OK. Population is less than 600.

There's lots of traffic, Little Red School house on Lee Road - I know a few people that have or have had their kids go there and they seem to like it.

Mandeville or Madisonville would have been better choices, school districts are slightly better.

It's a beautiful place. Traffic's bad if you commute to NOLA for work every day, but not too terrible otherwise. The downtown area has a few decent bars and there are lots of great restaurants around for a town its size. The Tammany Trace is beautiful, there's several breweries nearby, Fountainbleu State Park is a treasure, and Mandeville has a great little old town that resembles a small beach town with little shops, bars, and restaurants near the lake.

For gyros, go to Babaganoush
For oysters, go to Buster's Place
For sushi, Yujin

It's still nice, but it used to be awesome before Katrina. Alot of trash lives there now.
