I'm not there yet. I do the same thing you're talking about. I can't just 'do' hobbies/sports. I throw myself fully into them. It's draining and not fun. I'm a cyclist and train my arse off. And I'm mediocre, at best. I guess I'll have to strive for average.
At work, professionally, I do the same thing. But it's becoming apparent that I won't always be moving upwards. How do people settle into a job for decades?? I can't imagine doing what I'm doing now day-in and day-out forever. There has to be more to life than this. And I make very good money and I'm not overburdened. Just can't settle.
