They didn't. That was a big controversy too. People were pissed but it doesn't seem like there was anything they were trying to hide.
LGR (a well known Sims reviewer) posted on Twitter that he has played it a little over 6 hours and really likes it. When some people saw him say that they were shocked because they thought he was going to rip on it.

Loss of open world is huge to me, loved that shite, the constant loading to go anywhere is annoying. The sims interactions with each other is definitely the brightest spot. Not sure if I like the new cartoony approach or not. That is not a big factor to me.

Just watched his review. Think I'm gonna take his advice and wait. It looks good and all but it doesn't look $60 good. Not yet.
