Lot of misinformation in this thread. As for using an OTA antenna with the Dish Hopper, all that's required is the $20.00 OTA module which simply plugs into a USB port. You let the Hopper scan for channels, save any you want to keep & done - the OTA channels will appear in your normal Dish guide and are easily identified by a different guide color. There is no activation fee and rain has no effect on the signal. I can't imagine being without one - OTA available throughout the home, excellent backup system, additional channels and ability to use the DVR for OTA content.

i have a vip722 and there's simply an antenna screw.

all you do is screw on antenna and his 'scan' and you're done.

i don't konw nothing 'bout no hopper and i ain't ponying up another $10/mo to try it out.
