I have hunted and worked all over Mississippi for 30 years, and cannot name an area that has more deer now than when they did away with doe days and went to does any day of the year.
I know the pressure put on the deer is a big factor in seeing deer though. You can go to somewhere like Nebraska or Kansas, where documented deer densities are far less than Mississippi, yet you see 10x more deer in those states. The difference is in Mississippi and Louisiana you have someone within earshot of a deer every fricking day during hunting season. Seasons are too long, and weapons restrictions don't really exist anymore. This new "primitive weapons" season won't do anything but exacerbate the issue. Thanks Obama.
