Pocic will be good no doubt, but for his first start he had trouble with all the shifting and stunts by Wisconsin's D line. Also had trouble getting off defenders and attacking more downfield. Not easy to play the center position.

Porter was most likely suspended, so it was his fault then. Pocic will get better with each game, but at the very least we needed Porter for the depth, and definitely his experience and chemistry with the O line.

After watching the game again I concur. Pocic will get better as the season progresses.

We needed QT to be healthy and Bain to not be suspended. Malachi would have helped us tremendously considering our receivers were shitting on their secondary when they weren't holding.

This sounds like you watched the wisky zone scheme, listened to the announcers talk about punching and releasing the the second level, and assumed LSU runs the same scheme. But they primarily run man blocking schemes which are the reason shifting fronts gave them problems. Shifting fronts does not affect zone nearly as much, and the center's job in a 3-4 (center will be nose covered) is simply to block the nose or down block the pull. Not to get downfield

Center is definitely not Pocic's natural position. He was a big reason why we struggled with their D-line shifts.
