Sell me on Phish

Yeah yeah, another Phish thread....
Listened to a little bit on YouTube earlier and wasn't turned off, but wasn't overly impressed... I can see glimmers of what some people may like.
If you could suggest one song to listen to in order to get someone interested, what would it be???
Also, why the hell does the drummer where a shower curtain?

Because he doesn't speak English.

You have to take some acid to get phish

You should try widespread panic, or better yet, the disco biscuits.

It's really something that has to be experienced in a live setting.
It probably won't make sense until you're there.
Tahoe Tweezer
4/3/98 - Roses Are Free
8/17/97 - Bathtub Gin
12/31/95 - Mike's Song
12/14/95 - Tweezer > Timber > Tweezer
12/31/93 - Harry Hood

Reading all the phish hype on here and worrying I might be missing out, I asked these bros the same question a few weeks ago. It's a complicated answer because apparently you have to listen to the live stuff to get it. If you don't get it after that, then you have to go to a show and really experience it to get it. If you still don't get it, then "sorry you don't get it lulz".
They have good jams, but you have to wade through some really cringeworthy vocals, lyrics, and songs to get there. The biggest standout to me was the tongue-in-cheek track "frick your face," an anthem about a boy and his uncooperative guitar that will literally make you embarrassed for them when he sing-talks about "gettin prrrruuutty pissed" and warning us that when he "gets mad, he gets red." Lol, oh no, watch out y'all, that pasty nerd is mad.
In conclusion, you'll probably find that Phish would be infinitely more listenable if they'd go on stage, use the mics to say hi and bye only, and just jam. And that goes for just about every jamband with "songs" ever.

And OP, to try and be helpful and not totally derail your thread
I posted this last time on here and some of my MB colleagues said it was a bad jam to suggest to a n00b, but I don't think so. you gotta jump in to learn how to swim, right?
check this one out, this is an example of later 90's Phish jamming styles, Trey killing it on guitar the first half of the jam, and a full band funk groove jam the second half of the jam. if you like this, then you'll probably enjoy Phish:
7/29/98 Bathtub Gin

Approaching Phish, the concept of a "song" is useless.
They're talented, I suppose, but excruciatingly boring.

you can't "sell" people on phish. they just gotta figure it out for themselves. i've been to 30 shows going back to 1995, and every newbie i brought along with me loved it....that said, before actually seeing the band live, most of those same folks were pretty "meh" about what they'd heard beforehand. i guess if i had to pick ONE song that captures some quality jamming & musicianship, and i'm assuming you're willing to hear something other than shorter, basic songs, check out "chalkdust torture" from the 'IT' DVD....while 20-something minutes long, there's some great uptempo head-popping jams going on there, while also alternately reeling things in for a breather. i didn't attend this show, but i always reach for this particular "chalkdust" for some reason....
nowadays, the band is hit or miss. if all you're asking for is concise, disciplined jamming, then you might get into current phish....however, the longer, exploratory jams are fewer & far between these days. put it this way: the other day, some people were getting excited when in one of their sets, the first letter of each song performed spelled out "lushington", and people were speculating (in real time) what that would mean for the rest of the set. me, i was like, "lushington?? that's a 10-song set, minimum....unacceptable"
