No, they're not posing as a hardcore band. I just think the amount of pop they add takes a lot of the edge away.
I just don't get the same feeling listening to Blink that I get from listening to say, Bad Religion. To me, they found the perfect balance between catchy and punk on Suffer and No Control.
Blink is just too poppy for me.

Bad Religion is amazing. I know what you mean. I don't know if you've listened to Blink's last two albums but they have some surprisingly mature stuff on there. Some of it is much more alternative than pop punk/punk at all.
