Because

EVERY single one I've seen built from start to finish has had major problems

Ummm, I'm not losing any cred by stating the FACT that every single one I've seen built is terrible. Also, there are quite a few that I've seen only post construction that have major, major problems.
Honestly, I feel bad for people that get sucker in to buying/building one bc of cost.

You must not be able to read very well. Your first statement was
You backtracked and then said
quote:Which is saying all 1000+ homes they build has a major problem. Every single one.

Also, what are you calling "major problems"? I've been in my house 3 years, and haven't experienced anything bad. I need to know what to look for in my house. Must not be too major though if I have to look for it

DR Horton and DSLD are two different companies. Allen Thomason sold PCC builders to DR back somewhere around 2006. DSLD was started by Saun Sullivan and Allen joined him later on. Mr. Thomason has some very deep pockets

I realize that. Dsld is better than horton, for sure.
Major problems are things that easily do not pass inspection and put construction back months. If you need specific things I don't kind listing the main ones I've seen frequent.

I know the problems. Trust me, I'll never live in one

As someone else considering one of their higher priced homes (DSLD), please list the major problems that you have been aware of. Thanks!

you're going to get similar, middle of the road homes from any builder that mass produces spec homes, be it starter home or McMansion, not necessarily a knock, you'll be getting a known quantity, but still more or less. a spec house

I've lived in a horton home for about four months. A few minor issues so far but they have been very responsive to fixing them (as in the next day). I must say though you guys do make me nervous with what y'all are saying. I don't need that with kickoff in just a little bit.

I might have worded it better, no major cause for concern, you'll get a good house under warranty.

My roof leaked from the start and they came out 5 or 6 times to fix it. It was a royal pain in the arse having to meet the builder at 2:00 or 3:00 after every rainstorm on a workday. They finally got it fixed and I haven't had any issues since.
I didn't realize DSLD were starter homes. Y'all must be some ballers if $275,000 to $340,000 houses
are starter homes.

You must not have seen the shite they're buidling in Lafayette Parish. 150s to 160s on swampland.

Yes 150 to 160 would be a starter home. The DSLD homes in my neighborhood are $120,000 to $200,000 more than that.

I'm looking at a couple DSLD homes in Tuscany. A year later, do you still feel good about your DSLD home? What are your opinions on the neighborhood? Is the HOA super restrictive?

DSLD is killing a few nice neighborhoods in North Bossier.
They are coming in the back (phase 3 roughly) and building for $110-113/sq, plus RDL.
One neighborhood in particular has a shitload of nice large houses for sale in phase 1 that have been sitting for months, I hated to pass on that many deals but did not want to inherit the predicted future.
