The Tet Offensive is a prime example. The media painted a picture that this was the "turning point" of the war that "proved the war was unwinnable". The truth of the matter is that the Tet Offensive destroyed the Viet Cong as a combat effective formation and gutted every NVA formation that was committed to battle. It was nothing short of an unmitigated disaster for the Communists.
