I just hope that this decision is based on how he played in camp as opposed to him just being a little older than Harris...
Miles: So Cam, I really want to thank you again for agreeing to be LSU's OC. You did great work with Mett, and you are really doing yeoman's work with Jennings and Harris.

Cam: Les, one of the best decisions of my life was to come here to LSU. So much talent. I love it.

Miles: So who do you think should be the starting QB for the Wisconsin game?

Cam: In all of the time I've been coaching and developing QBs, molding them into the champions that they become, I have gathered a wealth of information about the position.

Miles: That's true. It's why you are so highly regarded and so well compensated. It's why you have been in this business for so long.

Cam: And it's been such a blessing to watch Jennings and Harris grow and mature. I've spent just about every waking hour watching and thinking about every minute aspect of their play and tweaking their technique. I feel like those two kids are my sons.

Miles: So you're going to choose the starting QB based solely on age.

Cam: I wanted to, but I said frick it. Harris is older, but I'm going in reverse alphabetical order based on last names.

Miles: Great strategy. I love it. You hungry? They just mowed Tiger Stadium . . .

Maybe the true freshman is really really good.

Hell, does anyone think JFF throws for 511 last night? Does anyone think JFF wouldn't have started the game if he had stayed at A&M.

Its football shite happens. Why does everyone just not get it. There are no guaranteed predictors of success.

Maybe both QBs have certain aspects of their games that coaches like, and certain aspects of their game that the coaches do not love.

Maybe both QBs give the team advantages in some but not all parts of the game.

Maybe the coaches are trying to decide which set of advantages will give LSU the best chance to win.

I guarantee you Cleveland would rather have Hill on their roster at this point! The upside is unlimited, not so much with a short run around guy like JM. Cleveland won't win 7 games.

I worry about LSU's situation because Harris seemed to be considered as good BEFORE camp even started. I don't doubt their talent, I jsut hate being on a constant roller coaster trying to picked THE guy all year long. It hurts a team usually more than it helps.

Honestly, this worry seems to be far more an issue for fans who feel the need to pick a favorite guy rather than enjoy the games and allow coaches to coach. To paraphrase Travis Daniels, we ought to be pulling more for the name on the side of the helmet rather than the name on the back of the jersey.

because harris has outplayed him in the spring and fall during practices and scrimmages

jennings will start because he's been there before, but I expect harris to be on the field quite early.

For frick's sake...Saban continued to play Randall when it was apparent to all that Russell was the future and had already demonstrated his ability in his second half and eventual OT victory over OSU in 2004.

Did you even watch the LSU/Auburn game in 2004? The one where Marcus Randall looked like Joe-Effing-Montana leading us down the field to open the game on a 15 play Touchdown Drive?

Russell demonstrated potential, but to say after watching that that Russell deserved to be inserted-which he was, since Saban was so dogmatically rigid and had only planned to play Randall the first 15 plays before inserting JR, as opposed to going with the OBVIOUSLY hot hand in Randall-is pure idiocy on your part.

Reading this nugget buried in the first page of this thread sort've sealed for me the lack of a need to read through the rest of it, because I doubt the level of discourse improved much from this mental flatulence you keyboarded out for us all to read and wince at.

One drive against Arky and a lackluster game (at best) against Iowa with over a month to prepare.

I Don't dislike Jennings at all, I would actually prefer he stand out and win the job, but I truly don't think experience is a factor at this point.

If this is a surprise to anyone they don't follow LSU football or live in an altered state of reality.
The same scheme will apply to LF.

Miles plays a game of ball control. He's not gonna let a freshman turn over the ball.
