And are Republicans/Conservatives openly admitting that the Iraq was was a huge mistake now? Because when I have the misfortune of happening upon that station, I regularly see Bill Kristol and Sean Hannity and Karl Rove still defending the worst foreign policy decision in recent American history on the reg.
What IF the Sunni-Shia alliance in a newly-freed Iraq would have worked it out, SW; formed a fair Democratic State as a buffer to the Iranian/terrorist hegemony in that region? Would Iraq still have been a 'mistake'?
Monday morning q-backing is easy. We paid dearly to understand that forming stable, just and counter-Islamist Nations in the ME...is folly. Costly folly at that.
Don't dis those soldiers who laid their lives on the line - or those who believed in that strategy/ideal (Bush, et al) - to give the Iraqi folk a chance; it was a noble and historically unique effort. The fact that it didn't work out does not taint the nobility of the effort.
The Islamists are coming. If Obama attacks the FIRST ISLAMIC STATE...guess what? I'd hate to live in Minnesota.

But none of the foreign policy realists thought this was a possibility, including Poppa Bush and his best friend national security advisor Brent Scowcroft. Why W would trust the judgement of the neocons over the judgment of his own father, one of the most keen foreign policy experts of the 20th century, is beyond me.

Yea and sadly neither will win their primaries most likely and we will end up with 2 shite choices for president once again.

If more people listened to Pat Buchanan, we'd be better off. Obligatory IMO, of course.
