Haven't we tried some of this already? Do we really have the stomach (and resources) to maintain a presence over there, working toward what seems like an unattainable goal? I don't want to seem like a Debbie Downer, but "winning over the hearts and minds" doesn't seem to be working.

Yeah. It seems like a period of isolationism is in order. I'd like for some of these other "world leaders" (England, France, Germany, etc) who have more skin in the game (closer to Middle East) to carry the load for a while. Also, we don't have the will to act decisively...we're exhausted. Let's just let others handle it for a while.
