Will racism ever be eradicated, in the U.S., in our lifetime?

I got to thinking tonight about the way racism was in the 60's and how, I'm sure, many thought that racism wouldn't even exist now- 50+ years later.
Will racism and prejudice be eradicated in the next 50 years? The next 100 years?
I think there will always be some prejudice on both sides. People not trusting each other being the main culprit.
Not trying to start an argument. Just trying to get some opinions on the matter.

You need to define what eradication is.
But the answer is no. It's a very core part of human nature.

I just think it's nice you believe it's possible simply by asking the question. Alas, we will always fight the human condition, and we will always fail.

If we get rid of racist people we have a fighting chance.

Not as long as the Sharptons and Jacksons of the world are still around to ensure that it exists.

The truth of the matter that nobody wants to admit is that it's man's natural state to have a preference towards those who are of his own kind. This is true of all races and thd biggest racial problem we face today is that people are too scared to face this truth.

We're doing better than Europe.

It gets better at times but all that progress gets thrown out the window with "Trayvon Martin" incidents

It will always exist in every corner of the inhabited world.

People naturally cling to what they are comfortable with...family, people of similar social status, race, etc...it's just a way we compartmentalize. We defend what's closest to us so there will always be a bias...race included even if it's a minuscule amount

No, because I don't want to live around certain types of people.

True, organized racism only exists in the victim mentality of some people. If what went on in American history up to the 60's is the benchmark for racism, it's pretty much dead in this country.
Around the world is a different story.
There will always be prejudice. It's human nature. But not true racism.

Tribalism is an innate part of human behavior.
You may not necessarily hate those of a different tribe, but you damn sure favor your own.

I honestly think that 50 - 100 years from now, there won't be distinct races in the US...

Maybe if Obama could run again

We have a chance if we cast off all of the petty little manipulators, but it will be a tall order. Too many people have a stake in it, and to be honest, I feel like the black community in general is more than a little brainwashed after years of mass cultural manipulation. Also, I feel like many if not most are perfectly willing to ignore common sense in cases such as St. Louis as long as their "side" has some rallying point or is seemingly winning the argument.
Too much invested and the resentment is too deep seeded. It's basically a cultural race war now.
