Because of the yards and td's they produce, not the number of times they catch the ball

You gotta catch the ball before you produce yards and TDs, yes? Don't you agree that's a pretty big key? Receptions is a historical stat that the NFL uses when classifying WRs.

You act like every nfl catch is some wide open play for the WR. They are going over the middle, catching balls in double coverage, CBs draped all over them. Gimme a break

It's easy to say, "oh, what if he catches a ball for zero yards?"

Look at any player owned on a fantasy roster and check their yards per reception. Most WRs at over 10 yards; that's a first down. They aren't catching 0 yard passes.

If you are talking nfl and not PPR fantasy, it's only tangibly valuable if they make yards after catching

I'm not sure what this has to do with qb's. Perhaps they should get 1 point for every 30 yards if you think they make too many points. But points for catching a ball on its own doesn't make sense to me.

It has to do with making the scoring as equal as possible. You have to find a way to reward the other positions to attempt to keep pace with the QB

Why can't you just reduce the value of the quarterback's passing yards?
