I wasn't quite sure since I didn't see an emoticon and folks on this board are know for criticizing folks for things as trivial as spelling errors.

Humanizing barbarians requires too much thought and imagination for me.
Do you have any idea how hypocritical and Orwellian this statement is? It sounds like something that a member of the KKK or Nazi might say. Here's what Holocaust survivor Rabbi Henry Siegman recently said about Israelis who think like you:
quote:
Too many Israelis seem to believe they have a God-given right to occupy, suppress, disenfranchise and displace non-Jews—particularly Arabs—in Israel. That right seems to be implied in Prime Minister Netanyahu’s insistence that Palestinians affirm the State of Israel as the historic homeland of the Jewish people…
That belief may also account for the fact that adherents to a Jewish religious tradition that stresses the sanctity of human life and man’s creation in the image of the divine react so callously to the destruction of innocents, as Israelis have, 80 to 90 percent of whom have approved Israel’s incineration of so many of Gaza’s non-combatant population. It seems not to have occurred to them that this sense of special entitlement that characterizes their behavior resonates an ideology that led to the Holocaust even as they invoke the memory of the Holocaust in justification of measures they say are intended to prevent its recurrence.
Of all democracies in the world, Israel is probably the only one in which a member of its parliament, Ayelet Shaked, who publicly advocates genocide of the residents of Gaza, has not been expelled from her political party, Habayit Hayehudi, or from Israel’s parliament…

So because he's a Holocaust survivor that automatically means he should be listened to when it comes to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict?
I support Israel not because I believe they have a God-given right to the land, but because they remain our only true friend in the Middle-East.
I couldn't give a shite less about their historic claims to the land. They could be a Muslim nation and my opinion would not change one bit. So long as they remain an ally of the United States, they could be devil worshippers and I wouldn't care.

He's done a helluva lot more than survive the Holocaust. Look at his bio. By the way, he used to be a Likudnik when he was younger and didn't know any better.

Considering all that we do for Israel, do you really think they've been a good ally? I would argue that if we did for any nation what we've done for Israel that nation would be a better ally than Israel. Hell, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are better allies than Israel, and they're crappy allies, but at least they've never attacked one of our navy ships.

Yes, they have. Their very presence in the region has diverted foreign fighters to the conflicts that rage their almost yearly, keeping them busy in Gaza instead of busy thinking up new ways to bomb Americans.

But Israel and the U.S. have no common enemies. None of Israel's enemies (Hamas, Hezbollah) have ever attacked the U.S. and none of the U.S.'s enemies (Al Qaeda and its affiliates) have ever attacked Israel.
Do you believe that attacking the USS Liberty was the act of a good ally?

Hamas and Hezbollah recruit foreign fighters to their cause. These foreign fighters who flock to Hamas and Hezbollah are being prevented from flocking to other organizations such as Al-Qaeda and perhaps ISIS. So their very presence is a benefit to us in the end.

So you bring up something that happened 50 years ago to make your point? Yeah...you're done.

You're misinformed. Hamas and Hezbollah are made up of indigenous people, not foreigners. They don't take volunteers from all over the world like Al Qaeda and ISIS do. Where are you getting your information from?

It seems like a struck a nerve, but I guess the truth hurts. It's funny how in one breath folks of your ilk will sweep the USS Libery under the rug as though it never happened because it happened so long ago, but in the next breath you'll oppose peace with Iran because of something that happened long ago that didn't involve the loss of any U.S. lives.

Hamas, Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda, ISIS. All peas which belong to the same pod. They all need to be wiped from the face of the earth. If that means killing all those who support them....then so be it. The religion of Islam needs to be eradicated anyway.

No, it really doesn't. I wasn't among the dead so I really don't care. Want to know something else that's true? I'm third generation U.S. Navy. My uncle was in the Navy at the time of the Liberty incident. Guess what. He supports Israel, too.

So now we get to the heart of the matter. It doesn't matter at all to you what these groups agenda is, you just want wage a crusade against all Muslims, regardless of whether or not they're enemies of America. I find it strange that someone like you could be such a fan of Rand Paul, considering the fact that senseless warmongering is anathema to both him and his father.

The result is the inevitable conclusion by some that the religion of Islam needs to be eradicated. It's predictable. But insofar as blame, make no mistake, Islam has skin in the game.
The religion of Islam needs to be eradicated anyway.

Excellent point! It really takes some political skill to be able to bring the house down at Berkeley, get praised on Democratic Underground, win applause by most the hosts at MSNBC and still maintain the support of a significant number of the knuckledraggers on the right.
