And I'm trying to make the point that obsessing over every boogeyman is NOT common sense.
I agree, but I think it's also common sense to acknowledge that these things are possible and we have to give some thought as to how we would deal with these situations. It's a simple war game exercise.

Don't sweat it upgray. They think when we post and discuss thinks like this that we sit in our barricaded bunkers waiting on the camel humpers go invade over the hill any minute.
It's the same attitude this country had pre-9/11 and it's going to facilitate something similar happening again. Awareness of the potential dangers out there will do wonders. Anyone remember "see something say something?"

I'm not sweating it. I just don't understand how people can just brush off possible threats as long shots and, lo and behold, when it happens, they sit back and demand answers as to how this could have happened.

My comment was more for Fed, state and local govt's, but I think it also trickles down to avg citizens to an extent.
The plastic and duct tape really reminded me of the old Civil Defense "duck and cover" videos of the 50's and 60's

I'm not freaking about it, but I'm not blind to the fact that something could possibly happen.
You bash people for watching the news and being concerned about possible threats, yet it's obvious that you spew the same shite that the psycho conspiracy theorist Alex Jones does. And you spew it almost word for word.
At least he explains shite. You just rabble babble with smart arse remarks and emoticons.
Step away from YouTube for a little while.

The fact of that was that the gov't was informed by another gov't that this was a bad dude with potentially bad intentions. If he went to the moon that part is irrelevant.
But Russia's enemies are not our enemies, so I can understand why the FBI might not feel compelled to devote resources to folks who up until then had only been interested in killing Russians. I also wouldn't expect the FBI to be alarmed if the British warned us about an IRA terrorist who was coming to the U.S., or if Spain warned us about an ETA terrorist.

Apples and oranges.
There have been many, many Chechens killed in Iraq, most notably in Fallujah. So, yes, in this case we did share a common enemy.

In a statement, the Nahrawan of Syria said it came together to battle Kharijites, a historical reference to fanatical Muslims who rejected moderate teachings and advocated killing those who violated ultraconservative values. The statement did not specifically name ISIS.
The coalition includes the "Hazem Movement, the Islamic Front, Al-Mujahideen Army, Noureddine, al Zanki Battalion, Faylak Al Sham and others," the statement said.
The coalition supports the Syrian revolution against President Bashar al-Assad's regime. Via Facebook, the Nahrawan coalition told CNN that the Free Syrian Army and al-Nusra Front have also joined in the fight against ISIS in Aleppo.
But I thought all the Syrian rebels were the same and we fund them all...

This is exactly what I heard an analyst say.
Wait, MSM parroted on the poliboard? No fricking way!

Do you have any solutions or any insight to offer other than be "that" guy who alludes to conspiratorial nonsense and mocks the rest of us for giving a rat's arse what happens around the world?

As for funding; don't be silly, government would never dream of misappropriating funds.
