Yeah, and the comparisons to NFL QB's are not really necessary. There's a difference between throwing a football 55 yards with all your might and throwing a football 55 yards with low trajectory and high velocity.
And, you don't need superior arm strength to be a great NFL QB. Chad Pennington was never known for strong arm, but rather his great accuracy.

go to an NFL game early and watch the ball boys throw the ball back to the kicker/punter when they are practicing. Just normal people throwing an NFL ball 30-40 yards with ease. It's really not that hard for anyone that played sports growing up that knows how to throw football properly. or go in the street in front of your house. Measure out 10 yards. then 20, then 30. You'd be surprised how short that truly is.
Exactly

Well, if the NFL players ever go on strike, we know the first place owners can look for scabs.

If I go to the driving range and warm up with 300 to 325 yard drives on the range and get really loose I can launch it 55 yards from my knees. When I roll out to my left at 4.25 40 speeds I can accurately hit 'em at about 70 yards.
So all and all I can launch it about 30 to 35 yards.

You lost me at "normal people throwing an NFL ball 40 yards with ease".

You think Ben McDonald couldn't have thrown it further than those numbers posted?

Exactly. The OP didnt say, how far can you throw a rope on a 5 step drop. I assumed it was standing back and taking a 5 yard run/crow up and putting everything into it, the way any normal perosn would do when trying to see how far they can throw something.

Joe Flacco can throw the ball 73 yards...flat footed. Dont know where that info is coming from.

But how fast can you run a mile between the drives and throw? What's your ACT score? How many OT 8's and above do you sack up with per week?

Are you guys really unathletic?
These are like middle school numbers.
I could toss a college one 50 yards, 60 if I spin in perfectly. No where near accurate at top distance though. I have always had a good arm though, pitched, played QB growing up, etc. (not great at control though)
Most of the athletic guys in my HS could throw it the same length. These numbers are cracking me up in here.

Probably 30 yards if I'm lucky
I can chunk a baseball but I can't throw a football for distance. Has most to do with my shoulder.

What are NFL ball boys considered? super athletes?
40 yards isn't shite if you're talking maximum throwing distance

NFL 50-60 yards.
Some of you are so full of shite it isn't even funny.
Its really not that hard. Did any of you play sports?
I played a game of football with friends last week and there were a couple guys with stronger arms than me and we all could throw it the length of the field rather easily (its how we kicked off). The field was 50 yards from goal line to goal line.

I don't think those numbers are that bad. Sounds like an average arm to me

This.
We aren't throwing Jamarcus bullets 60 yards with pads on while being chased by linebackers.
Crowhopping a throw as hard as you can with no defenders in your face will make the ball go a lot farther than a lot of you think.

You're right.
The comparison to one of the best college pitchers ever gave me a new perspective on the dozen idiots in this thread who believe they can throw a ball as far/nearly as far as the 5 furthest throwing of the 32 best quarterbacks on the planet.

The numbers posted aren't in-game numbers. You can watch the QB distance challenges on youtube, and it's them with no pads simply throwing as far as they can. Hell, even look at college QB's.

Flacco threw a 70 yarder. Most of them were landing in the low 60's.

Yeah throwing an NFL regulation football 60 yards is simple. Right. Whatever numbnuts said Flacco can throw a football 73 yards flat footed is just dumb. Not sure where that number came from. He threw the ball 74 yards in the 2008 State Farm Long Distance Challenge. I watched it. He didn't have pads on and had about a 5 yard running start. Yes his arm strength might have improved some, but it didn't go from crowhopping a ball 74 yards (which was a full 7 yards farther than the next best) to throwing a ball 73 yards flat footed. So stop with the running around with pads on with line backers chasing blah blah. Flacco was considered to have an ELITE arm coming in to the draft and he could only crowhop it 74 yards.
Sorry if I don't believe some E-badass can throw an NFL ball 60 yards. 40-45. Very realistic. 60. No. Call me unathletic
