he never will, because he is not in competition for it. in paeyton's offense there is not a traditional #1,2,3 WR format, or rather the XYZH. Colston would be considered the #1 or X WR in traditional offenses and Stills the Z; however, Paeyton switches ev'rbody up on ev'r play. Colston lines up as a slot, or H, WR the majority of the time to create a mismatch situation and get him on LBs and Ss. His speed isn't the best, and this utilizes his abilities the most. Graham lines up in Z quite often.

The point is that there is no real 1-2-3 WR setup. They will rotate in based on situations and intent. They are basically all 3 starters, and the only distinction is the way they are used.

This is a chicken shite way of avoiding rank and file.

Yes, Cooks has surpassed Stills IMO to be the #2 go to WR at this moment. Stills provides a great versatile 3rd starter for this offense.

I understand that Payton isn't traditional in his use of the WRs, or any receiving option for that matter. I was more asking if Cooks had surpassed Stills in the base package formation. 2 WRs out wide and Graham somewhere in between.

See, I don't think Cooks has taken the #2 spot yet. I believe that he will in the future, but I don't think he gets rolled out as the #2 WR just yet.

it still all depends on the situation. he's not in direct competition with stills for all of those base formations. sometimes he will be in and others he won't. it's really all situational. Chad in his elegant way explained it best: Cooks will be the #2 WR target behind Colston, #3 overall when you factor in Graham. My point is you can't look at it as Cooks vying for Stills' position, because they will be playing 2 completely different roles

Not saying you're wrong but...

Cooks has impressed the shite out of them with everything he does.

Stills can't stay on field right now.

Who is would they go to? Morgan? (who hasn't see regular action in a long time)

It's not like Stills is a seasoned vet. He is entering his second year and has barely participated in camp.
