As CFB fans we should all be insulted by this supposed playoff system. What kind of playoff has a "f"n committee? Its a joke and we are all the punchline
It's not perfect, but it's a helluva lot better than the previous systems. First it was sportswriters who just subjectively picked who they thought was the best team. Things got better with the BCS. At least we had a championship game. Still, the selection of the two participants was primarily subjective.
My question to you is in a league of 120+ unequally situation schools, how are you supposed to completely objectively select the teams who participate in the playoffs? The coaches poll was basically nothing more than a "committee". Same with the AP

completely agree. The BCS ratings were 2/3 affected by the polls, which are an abomination. Having a committee (although still human) is much better than polls.
College football isn't the NFL (32 teams vs. 128). Too many weak conferences, and schedules are completely different. The NFL equalizes schedules each year based on prior year results.
Once the playoff expands to 8, we can then automatically take the conference champions in the big 5 conferences and then add 3 at large teams. This takes some of the subjectivity out of the equation.
But for now, I'll take the committee over the prior BCS formula every day of the week.
