cast netting for shrimp at rollover/ josephs harbor

anyone have any tips for using a cast net to catch shrimp? should I throw near the bank? middle of the bayou? looks for current?

never done this before and wanted to give it a shot.

Throw at night at the edge of lights.

Punch holes in a can or two of cat food and toss around the area (pelleted rabbit food works, too)

I'm not familiar with the area you are talking about, but I've caught lots of shrimp wading about 10 feet out in 1-2 feet of water.

Find the dam.
Throw the net down stream.
Fill up the ice chest.

Guy at work said they caught plenty of shrimp last weekend at the first weir on the left when you take the right at the first tee towards Bertrand canal. He said they were all coming to the too to get oxygen and you could just see them and throw a net on them.
