That's fine if you don't think god is real. Then, it is perfectly fair to believe that rights come from our nature as humans.

If there was no government, then men would still be blessed with those three rights.

I'm as much of a capitalist and individualist as one can be, but I think it's silly to pretend that we have some kind of innate rights granted by the universe.

So this part is saying, by virtue of human physical capabilities, these things are possible. I don't see how this is any more than a statement of fact, regardless of the 'power' that you deem to have granted said capabilities.

It's not granted by the universe but by creator God.

In that sense, I agree. If we establish self-ownership (and all that goes with it), we are better off.

If finding an effective way to restrain government is our charge, don't you think there are much better ways of going about doing so than by invoking ancient mythology?

Well it's very simple. Either rights come from God and are inalienable and constant or they come from man and are arbitrary.

It's not meant to affect you theology. It just shows where the founders believed our rights derived from.

Again, this means little to me other than historical knowledge. I'm not beholden to the ideas of the founders.
