So ISIS committing genocide means we need to on all Muslims.

Yep, no way this could go wrong. I can't imagine this galvanizing the entire Muslim world into fighting us...and we would have no allies in that fight after attempting systematic genocide.

Steinem is the female John Kerry. A 'Feminist' who made a career out of marrying rich men.

How do you think Islam ever expanded out of Arabia if not for genocide?

It's the Wahhabist movement within Islam. It's conservative, strict interpretation Islam that leads to this violence.

It is a very strong minority of Islam, comprising anywhere from 15-40% of all Muslims. The numbers are hard to find due to complex dogmatic reasons of the different factions and denominations. Also, The Wahhabists have no name for themselves, in many Muslim countries such as Iran and Turkey and Iraq they are ostracized as a small minority. However in Saudi Arabia they are the vast majority.

We need to stop the rhetoric on both sides. The majority of Muslims in the world are at least somewhat modernized - and agreeable to women's rights, democracy, and religious tolerance. However, the faction that is not is not just some marginal fringe group analagous to the KKK. It is a huge vocal minority that makes an impression on all Muslims.

And the fact is the Wahhabists - or whatever you call this large ultraconservative minority faction of Islam - is not compatible with Western Society. It is not compatible with freedom of religion, freedom of speech, women's rights, or the separation of church and state. We have to recognize this first. Then bomb, banish, or modernize the Wahhabists by any means necessary, and provide economic assistance and friendship to the modern Muslims. If they're not gonna draw the line between themselves, we will

ISIS is not currently committing genocide on all non Muslims, but they would if they could.
How about we stop with all the silly rules of engagement. You see a threat you neutralize it instead of going up eight levels for approval. If the residents fear you more than your enemies, I am sure they will no longer harbor them.

Which is totally irrelevant just b/c ISIS wants to do it doesn't mean all Muslims need to be wiped out.

Im fully aware of how the Arabs invaded Africa and cleansed the locals.

Once again b/c ISIS wants to kill all non Muslims and other Muslims does not mean we wipe out all Muslims.

I don't have any comment on your statement about Kerry & Gloria S. I've not given it any thought.

My statement about hysteria was primarily aimed at those who are ready to kill non-discriminately (whether it be a muslim or otherwise).

The problem is the fricking Qu'ran. There are certainly Christian fanatics who want to take the Bible literally. The problem is- you can't. It is a complex, sprawling, often self-contradictory ancient tome. It was written, translated, and compiled a thousand times over the centuries by myriad religious figures. It deals with law, history, poetry, and dogma in many various ways.

The Qu'ran is a straightforward handbook for how to be pious to God and antagonistic to infidels. That's it. It was written by one person, in the language they still speak, much more recently. There's no Sermon on the Mount, there's no impression given anywhere than infidels are deserving of anything more that derision and condemnation and persecution and murder.

Good post - The Wahhabists got a foothold in the ME after the House of Saud basically merged with them to form what is now Saudi Arabia. The agreement was that the Wahhabis would manage religion and the Royal Family would manage the government. The Grand Mufti of SA came out a few days ago and essentially condemned ISIS.

However, ISIS is more of a Salafi movement and considers the Saudi elite as apostates and therefore worthy of the death penalty.

Salafis are Wahhabists.

All the ultraconservatives are Wahhabists. It's the blanket term - and why it's so hard to define.

As I said, no one calls themselves Wahhabists. It's mostly a term of derision used by the modernized Muslims

If they don't convert. My wife is doing a lot of geneological research, which requires use of LDS databases. It occurred to me that we could put an end to the violence if radical muslums would simply adopt the Mormon practice of posthumous baptism. Just wait for the infidels to die then do whatever is necessary for the conversion.

Part of the appeal to young Muslim men with groups like ISIL is the blood lust and rapes. This strategy would eliminate this incentive.
