I'm get the impression that Assad is probably an all around decent guy.

Assad is not a good guy just like Hussein wasn't a good guy. He may be the lesser of two evils, at least as far as America is concerned.

The problem with taking out these dictators is the huge power void left behind. You have generations of poor, uneducated, brainwashed fanatics ready to take over.

No one thinks NOPD is all that great or treats people that great but imagine if they were completely taken out. The thug regime would be even worse. Not sure what the solution is. It's generational. Hard to unbrainwash people. Education helps, but even some of the ones that come over here are fanatics.

Wouldn't go that far, unless you think Stalin was on the right side if history as well, he's just slightly less of a Monster, well no not even that, he's a monster who is more of a threat to his own people than others.
