I told her when she was 12 that I would match what she saved and she did well. I'm more than willing to throw in a little more for a good, safe used car, but I think you can find one of these Japanese sedans in the 12-14k range that will get her through college.

FWIW your daughter sounds very responsible so she'd likely take extra care of something she has invested her money in. I'd shop more and consider buying new.
